Magdalena Jobst was born in Germany in 1996 and currently lives and works between Lisbon and Paris. She studied Architecture at Hochschule München (BA, 2016-2019) and did a Master in Architecture and Art at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München (MA, 2019-2021), where she also completed a Diploma in Fine Arts (Painting, 2018-2026) with Gregor Hildebrandt, Pia Fries and eventually Thomas Eggerer. She studied simultaneously a Master in Multimedia at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (2022-2025) under João Onofre. In September 2027 she will begin a PhD in a cotutelle between the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München (philosophy) and the École Normale Supérieure, Paris (literature).

Her practice begins in painting and extends into performance and spatial work, guided by the idea that a painting is always in a space, a space always around a living being. She works in series, among them I did my duty, painted fruits and vegetables (2023-24), They be sad (2025) and ONE PEOPLE (2026). Her Master thesis in Lisbon observed linguistic as performance, selling white sheets of paper as art. Her Diploma work, Digging a hole, making nature painting (2026) extended the idea of visual art within performance, took painting into an architectural and theatrical scope.  
She is the further author of two books (Neurotic Narratives, 2022 & Das Dörrhaus, 2025) and two albums (Come take a bath with me, 2025 & Posaune : Typhone [1], 2026), while currently publishing a children's book.

Her work has been shown, for example, in Pasinger Fabrik, Munich (2022) and Carpintarias de São Lázaro, Lisbon (2024/2025).

She has taught since 2021, lectured for a year in the Master's programme Architecture and Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, in the class of Prof. Baumschlager, taught a semester of undergraduate architecture at the University of Stuttgart, while she has been supervisor for a student of Morley College, during a residency at her studio in 2025. In Lisbon she led critiques in English for a year at the PRISMA association, mainly for painters and draughtspeople on residency, and hosted her own discussion groups at Xenom Domus, in collaboration with the painter Batu Behram. Further she has founded her own art space in Munich (F27, 2020-2022), and is the visual director of the FLINTA Collective Sexatronika (2024-2026).
